Gigabit LTE – definition, class, technology, devices, availability
Gigabit LTE is an important springboard for mobile 5G data connectivity. It contains a number of building blocks for the new network. Gigabit LTE is an advanced form of LTE, the 4G radio technology that mobile operators use to connect mobile devices.
Gigabit class lte
what is gigabit class lte? :- Gigabit class lte is advance version of LTE which download speed is up to 1GBps using Carrier Aggregation, 4×4 MIMO and 256-QAM techniques. Gigabit class lte also uses LTE-U / LAA technology. This means a freely available, unlicensed spectrum that helps relieve congestion in areas such as airports, busy city centers and shopping centers, and so on.
Gigabit class lte Basic Architecture.
Carrier aggregation in gigabit class lte- Heart of Gigabit LTE
Carrier aggregation means combining of multiple carriers in to one, it is advance LTE technology which increase Bandwidth and so connection between mobile device and mobile tower automatically becomes wider.
4×4 MIMO in gigabit class lte– Booster of Gigabit LTE
4 x 4 MIMO means four antennas at mobile device and four antennas at tower device working with multiple inputs and multiple outputs simultaneously. Normal lte used typical two antennas where gigabit lte uses four antenna so in good signal conditions this can up to double your speed. On weak signals, the additional antennas serve as additional “ears” that amplify the signal received by the tower, resulting in up to 70% faster speeds.
256-QAM in gigabit class lte– Advance Booster of Gigabit LTE
256-QAM means 256 quadrature amplitude modulation is advance modulation technology which encodes 8 Bits data into each LTE signal sent from tower to mobile device instead of six bit at 64 QAM which use in LTE. So it boost gigabit LTE speed, this also means that gigabit LTE need fewer resources from the tower to complete your downloads as more data is sent to you in each signal.
LTE-U/LAA in gigabit class lte– Congestion reducer of Gigabit LTE
In Gigabit LTE – LTE-U / LAA means unlicensed spectrum / License Assisted Access The LTE-U / LAA technology uses freely available, unlicensed spectrum from a “small cell” (a miniaturized cell site in a compact box) rather than a large one Tower is sent. Small cells are especially helpful in relieving congestion.
Device Supported by Gigabit class lte
All devices which with Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE and Later support Gigabit LTE, below are first supported device list.
- Iphone 11
- LG V30
- Samsung Galaxy S8 Active
- Samsung Galaxy Note 8
- Motorola Moto Z Force (2nd gen)
- Samsung Galaxy S8
- HTC U11
Where is gigabit lte available
As per our knowledge gigabit lte available in UK , USA, Australia and Germany.
- All main US network including Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile started deploy gigabit lte with 4×4 MIMO and 3-way carrier aggregation for best speed.
- Sprint started gigabit lte in New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington DC, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Detroit, Miami, Indianapolis, and Phoenix.
- Verizon (as gigabit lte verizon)and AT&T (as gigabit lte at&t) available gigabit lte in all major cities of USA.
- Vodafone started gigabit lte in all major cities of UK
- Telstra gigabit lte in all major city of australia
Gigabit internet
1 Gigabit = 1000 Megabits. Gigabit internet means user can get 1Gigabit per second download speed which is available through fiber cable where gigabit lte is wireless and advance version of normal lte.
Gigabit internet price (Fiber / Cable based)
Provider | Technology | Average Monthly Price |
Cox | Cable | $120 |
Spectrum | Cable | $105 |
AT&T | Fiber | $90 |
Verizon | Fiber | $90 |
Century Link | Fiber | $80 |
Comcast | Cable | $70 |
Fiber | $70 |
Now is Gigabit class lte is 5g? truly no gigabit lte is just path to 5G which support up to 1Gbps but not all Device/User practically get 1Gbps so 5g is still required to get purely 1gps to all user end. But fiber can support 1Gbps to all user but keep in mind to deploy each user at 1Gbps every network provider must ready backbone from customer end to PDSN with 10Gbps to 1tbas per traffic then each user truly got 1gbps.
What is the difference between Gigabit LTE and LTE Advanced?
Gigabit-Class LTE, officially known as LTE-Advanced Pro, is the latest version of the 4G LTE standard and is being rolled out worldwide. With download speeds well above 4G LTE, Gigabit-Class LTE is the natural first step for your company on the path to 5G.
