Liberian Regulator Seeks Equipment to Monitor Telecoms Networks

Regulators Liberia, the LTA has confirmed that it does not have the equipment that they say is necessary to actively monitor the quality of telecommunications networks in the country.

Heads of the regulator said in hearing politicians who lack the equipment was to allow some companies in terms of their traffic and to avoid paying full government regulation.

They also said that attempts to implement shutdown notices from companies they suspect fraud are hampered by lack of detailed technical documentation supporting such equipment would provide.

The regulator complained that although part of the reason for his own lack of equipment is that it has not received any income from the government, as agreed in the legislation that created the regulatory authority in the first row.
