What is Frequency Reuse and Resource Block reuse in LTE

LTE sites deployed by using 3 sector. Each sector operates on the same carrier frequency. Nomenclature for this reuse pattern is 1 x 3 x 1. This range of frequency reuse represents a number of sites in a template re-use, the number of sectors in each site, and the number of channels on the site.

For example, consider a 1 x 1 x 3 Frequency reuse pattern.

• The first digit (i.e. 1 x 3 x 1) is the number of sites used in the template to reuse frequencies assigned again. For LTE, the first digit is always equal to 1, which means that the frequencies are reused in each site.

• The second digit (i.e. 1 x 3 x 1) is the number of sectors, to deploy at each site.

• The third digit (i.e. 1 x 3 x 1) is the number of channels or transporters, distributed by sectors of each site.

LTE is may be deployed as a transitional technology upgrades for existing old 2 g/3 g Technology systems (e.g. GSM, CDMA, UMTS, etc.) within the same group. This is done taking the frequency spectrum from the existing obsolete technology (reduction of its Capacity) and assign it to LTE. When it’s done, uses LTE bandwidth spectrum available.

As the system transitions from legacy technology and advanced LTE spectrum assigned to LTE is implemented as LTE increases throughput channel (up to 20 Mhz) instead of adding another LTE channel. Following that approach, LTE provides the largest part of the system Capacity, avoiding duplication of overhead signaling. For this reason, it is expected the deployment of LTE will remain with their x 1 3 x 1 reuse of template.

The spectrum available for use in the new system to start (not within the existing system of 2 g/3 g) will dictate the carrier’s LTE bandwidth.

Resource Block Group Reuse Sub-Pattern

LTE down traffic for blocks allocated resources as traffic demands. IN group resource blocks is carried out on the adjacent sectors and sites for Reduce interference and optimize system performance. In the lightly loaded situations, LTE resource sector attracts first blocks of predefined groups that consist of one one third of the resources available in the LTE channel. (Number of resources blocks is changing bandwidth.) The LTE system will perform best under lightly loaded situations when these default resources unit the group followed the 1 x 3 x 3 sub-reuse pattern of its own. This sub-reuse pattern becomes less important because the load of traffic requires LTE sector rely on unused resources blocks, originally designated sites and related sectors.
